You may or may not be aware of the VHHS athletic conference alteration beginning in the 2016-17 school year. This issue affects ALL SPORTS for both GIRLS and BOYS at VHHS. It is especially concerning that our student athletes are being asked to play in a conference even when our Superintendent, Athletic Director and Principal all agree "is not in the best interest of Vernon Hills High School".
On Monday, November 24th at 7pm, there is a town hall style meeting with VHHS and District 128 administration in the VHHS Studio Theatre. It is extremely important that WE ALL ATTEND. This may be our only opportunity to communicate how important it is for our student athletes to participate in a conference where we can be both safe and competitive.
Below for your reference we have listed the schools with their enrollment for the newly constituted NSC 8. We believe this list of schools is the most compelling argument that we do not belong and other alternatives must be sought.
SCHOOL ENROLLMENT % larger than VHHS
Warren 4,262 224%
Stevenson 3,761 185%
Zion-Benton 2,670 102%
Mundelein 2,076 58%
Lake Zurich 2,032 54%
Libertyville 1,956 48%
Lake Forest 1,656 26%
Vernon Hills 1,316 -----
Please make every effort to attend the meeting on Monday 11/24, it is extremely important to be heard on this matter and show support. We look forward to seeing you next week. BE HEARD!!!!!
